“So, since you normally ask me this, when will you be back?”
“As soon as I can, I don’t even want to go..”
Chris smiled, it was odd being the one that would be left home alone, but Hayle had lived with him for over a year now, and he had his own job to keep up with. They both knew why he had kept putting it off, so he hoped he wouldn’t actually have to pull the leash stunt he had promised him to do.
“Don’t make me come with a leash on your first trip home then.”
“You mean “home.” This is home now.”
He watched Hayle as he left, before joining Felix on the sofa.
“Yeah.. It’s odd being just the two off us.”
He knew Felix would get some alone time as well, he had his own work to do, but nothing big that should take him a lot of time. The weirdest part was coming home to no Hayle, but he did find Felix lying outside waiting.
“So.. what should we do you think.”
He hadn’t quite thought about it until now, how used to always having Hayle there or somewhere close he had gotten. How comfortable he had gotten with it in such a short time, and how he hadn’t realized it until he wasn’t there.
“I’m starting to understand Nat’s hate for waiting now, and I only waited half a day.”
“Mrow.”
“Exactly, now lets head innside and see if we can’t find you some fancy cat food, and then something to watch on tv.”
He refused to sit outside and just wait. If there was one thing he had learned from Nat, it was that the best way to handle missing someone, was to keep busy with life.
