Derek on his side had more issues, both things were something he knew Toshi would give to him if he could, but what one was the real one? The one thing Toshi had decided was his gift. He scratched the back of his head, these were clever little pixies, especially since he had been with them a while so they knew him a little better than they knew Toshi.

The ring he knew why Toshi would choose, as one to wear alongside the one he had from before. The other though, was a teddy bear, and that for some odd reason felt more right, sure he wanted the ring, but the teddy bear, that was something he was sure he had never mentioned to the pixies, then again, would he really choose that? It had been such a random conversation they had when they were at a fair once, where her mentioned that he never had one as the world he grew up in, it was never a thing to let your children have teddy bears, and after coming to earth, he always found them special, seeing how the relationship between a child and their teddy could be as important as their relationship with friends or a parent.

He picked up the teddy bear, deciding that although the ring seemed the right choice, that’s just what he figured they might think about as well. Standing there with the teddy in his hands, he just hoped he made the right decision.

Just like last time, when their choice was made the faerie came back inside and took their chosen item from them. Toshi wondered what the next test would be when the door opened, and Derek stepped inside.

“Wait, are we done?”
“Seems so, I guess we passed.”

Derek smiled and walked closer to Toshi, nodding at him.

“I have to admit, they almost fooled me with that teddy bear you chose.”
“The letters were harder for me.”
“Yeah, I just remembered the book, it was so important to you.”
