“Shall we, my princess?”
“Yes, but does all travel between places here go by portal?”

As they warp through, a whole new place materializes, Rylan looking around to see what River was talking about.

“By the way, do you think you’d be able to eat sushi still?”
“I can try.. I might need to get reacquainted with food.”
“Wait.. you don’t eat here?”

Rylan looks at River, the words simply coming out of his mouth before he has time to even think. Looking around his eyes spotting the flying houses he has mentioned.

“Oh, no I ate… just… rice and water and if I did well I was rewarded with cheese… Morgyn doesn’t cook, and most of the casters don’t either so… I kinda got unused to the flavor… Wait! You learned to cook?! I wanna try your food!”
“Yeah, I’m a proper princess now, I know how to cook! It just became a thing Vy taught us, something we could do at home, so yeah, I can cook now. My dad is still better with baking than me though… “

He realizes he is babbling on, looking up at River to see if he looks bored by it or not.

“I’ll cook for you, mild things to begin with.”
“And you learned sushi! That’s amazing! What else can you cook?”

He is completely ignoring where they are, just curious to find more, noticing how he looks at him and then the floating houses.

“Of course I learned Sushi, it’s your favorite, and hmh, I’m decent at making roast chicken with baked potatoes, pizza… And hmh, well I’m still learning new things.”
“Ooooh Pizza! I haven’t had that in forever!”

As River points, he sees the apparitions that River mentioned earlier, as he gets pulled along to see what they are selling. The table filled with necklaces and trinkets.

“Wow, ghost salespeople now I have seen that too!”
“Anything you like?”
“do they do anything? I Mean the stones in these? And I’ll make you dinners, as many as you want. I’ll just be careful with the spices at first, right?”
“Yes and yes…”

River looks through the necklaces, picking a greenish one, the color of Rylan’s eyes, the price tag rather heavy.

“They have many uses. I think this one restores energy and has an energetic aura.”

“And it’s expensive.”

Rylan smiles noticing the price as well

“How about that purple one? What does it do?”

He points at a purple stone, mostly because he likes the color.

“That’s an Amethyst. They power logic and creativity.”

River smiles at Rylan, looking at the price once again. It is not as expensive as the other, but it still has quite a high price. He looks at Rylan.

“I think they would both look very nice on you, they’re both your color.”
“They’re a bit fancier than the plastic one I have, it was a gift from my aunt though so, I just kept wearing it.”

He smiles, his eyes resting a bit more on the green one, before looking at the many other necklaces and trinkets. River nods, looking back at the green one and thinking how good it would compliment Rylan’s eyes. He ponders, maybe the familiars and wands he got, maybe he could sell them out to the vendor in return for that necklace. he’d have to wait though, so he could surprise Rylan.

“Yes, they are, a bit fancy for our wallets too! Wait, my wallet, you’re still a rich kid”
“Yep! I am still your model, pretty boy princess, and rich boy!”

River laughs, just rolling his eyes pretending to be offended by it.

“Where do you want to go now, princess?”
“I don’t know… Maybe home, or by a certain postbox and see if maybe you might be the secret owner? Unless there is more you would like to show me?”
“Secret owner?”

River laughs and shakes his head

“I doubt that. How about I take you home, and in the morning we check it out?”
“Well someone has to be the secret owner! I’ll bet you a kiss and homemade sushi it’s you. But home sounds good, how about… Pizza? Or was two bites off that bread enough?”
“Pizza, I can try… I’d love to eat your homemade pizza.”

River smiles at him, his smile a bit stiff, certain worry to it, but he holds his hand and leads him back towards the portal so they can go home. He wonders however about this ‘home’. He doesn’t have a home anymore, his mother is gone, the shelter is gone.

“There is one called white margarita, I think that might be okay..”

He notices the nervousness in Rivers, and that smile he had earlier is different again.

“… You say take me home… But, it’s more like we both go home, together. I mean…”

He thinks for a bit trying to find the right words, not wanting to step on any toes and make it feel like it’s out of pity.

“My home is your home if you want it to be?”

River looks at him surprised, not having expected that proposition, being caught completely off guard he doesn’t quite know how to answer, part of him would love to, but would that really be okay after what he just did?

“No, I couldn’t. I don’t want to… I mean, not that I don’t want to, but I have already overstepped your… I mean… I don’t know. Can we eat first and decide later?”
“Of course…”

He wanted to point out there was more than enough space for him too, that he didn’t need to be in his room, but figures it best to leave it for now. All he knew was that another night without River now would be extremely hard, but if that’s what it came to then he would just deal with it then.

“Let’s go, so you can decide if my pizza making skills are as good as I make them out to be?”

River nods and leads him through the portal, so they come out on the other side, and they start to walk home.

“Do you miss the shelter?”
“Yeah, I worked there until she left, it was different without you though.. but yes, I miss the shelter, for several reasons. Some because Hayden misses it, Vy misses it and it was something we could do together, but mostly because it meant I got to spend time with you.”

He looks up at River, wondering a little where the question came from as he remembered the question he had to Morgyn earlier. River doesn’t look at him, though he nods. When he got back and saw the shelter he had thought that was it. The proof he had been abandoned and forgotten. He had decided to maybe go check on Rylan and then return to RoM and stay there. But now, he wanted the shelter back. He wanted to be a vet, not a sage, and he wanted to make Rylan happy.

“I am going to find a way to get the shelter back and if not this one, another.”

“We’d have to make changes to it if we want familiars as well as the more normal pets.”

Rylan smiles as the house once again comes into view

“And I know at least two more people who will be very happy to hear about a shelter but I do think one if not both are sound asleep by now.”

His attention is caught by a bleep on his phone, noticing it his modeling firm, deciding to check on it later, they seldom expected him to answer stuff this late.

“So… pizza then?”
“Yes, pizza!”

As much as he wanted to hint at him staying with them, he didn’t. He had, after all, said he would wait until after he had made him food. River just looking at the house, a small smile creeping on to his face as he thought about the shelter, a life, and one he would be able to spend with Rylan. Still, he wondered, would it be okay to say yes to Rylan’s idea of him living in the house with them, after all, that had happened, would it really be okay? Rylan looks at him as they walk, misinterpreting the look slightly, thinking maybe he is worried about his cooking skills. Not that he could blame him, he had never seen him cook before, which when he thought about it was probably a good thing.

“Don’t worry, I have it from at least four people I make good pizza.”
